Dr Rachel Gerver is one of TRT’s experts in microfluidics. She has also consulted on numerous point-of-care diagnostics on both the technical and business side. Previously at 10x Genomics, she served as microfluidics lead engineer on some of their early product launches. As a systems engineer in the early 2000s at General Motors, she helped move hybrid technology from R&D to production. Her career has been focused on bringing innovative and challenging technologies from R&D to market where they can have a positive impact on people and the planet. She has 3 patents and 5 peer-reviewed scientific publications, which have collectively been cited over 400 times.
Rachel has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, an MS in Mechanical/Materials Engineering with a focus in computational modeling of electrochemical systems from UT Austin, and a PhD in Bioengineering from UCSF/UC Berkeley with a focus in microfluidics (and fieldwork in rural Kenya). She is also a former Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellow and has a certificate in Management of Technology from the Haas School of Business.
